Aspects

Your natal chart is shown in a circle. Aspects are defined as the angular distance between two planets by the number of degrees that separate these planets. The angles between planets are regarded as aspects and impact on how the planets interact with each other. These are standard definitions and the margin between is referred to as ‘orb’.

The more powerful aspects are the orbs which are almost exact to the aspect. The ones which are wider apart have less of an influence. Aspects are commonly used to interpret natal charts to provide a deeper understanding of ones journey in life. They can indicate the timing of events, cycles, transitions and major changes in the lifes of people.

The Conjunction

When two planets are very close to each other, or separated by 0 degree, it is referred to as an conjunction. The conjunction can be positive or negative depending on which planets are involved and how close they are to each other. Understanding the combination and blend of these planets’ energies shows favorable and unfavorable configurations. It is also believed that conjunctions are aggressive, but not as challenging as squares or even oppositions.

The Opposition

An opposition is formed by dividing the circle, if there are two planets opposite each other, this is defines as an Opposition aspect. The aspect connect two planets at 180 degrees. Placed on opposite sides of the chart, oppositions are challenging and often results in one being torn, feeling uncertain and insecure in life. If we take the time to understand the opposition, we contemplate the argument of the opposition and work to negotiate a positive outcome.

The Square

A square is created when two planets are 90 degrees apart. It relates to tension, conflict and blockages. A square aspect shows your motivation to fight and win the battle. If handled correctly, there is room to overcome the challenges but if you work against these energies there is a risk that you will block your path and struggle to move forward. Panic and fear can trap the energy that is available to deal with the problems you are facing in life, therefore, if seen in your chart, you must realize your courageous nature.

The Trine

Planets in Trine work in harmony with each other. The planets are separated by 120 degrees. The planets complement each other and allow ease of expression. The aspect create good fortune and attracts well-being. Trine has the capacity to make things easy in life and therefore for a weaker character can be dangerous as they become lazy and lack challenges in their life due to acceptance of situations which require action.

The Sextile

The Sextile is often known as similar to the Trine, however at a 60 degree angle. This aspect involves elements of harmony, a person’s compatible energies. If the two planets involved can perfectly and actively exchange their energies their effects further concreted than with the trine. Sextiles reveal how we can direct our energies.
